We all knew that the future lineup of BMW would include i8 supercar and i3 hatchback – both electric vehicles, but new spy shots have unveiled that BMW is testing a prototype for I sedan. We think that mysterious i saloon car will be electric model and looks like there are electric motors, wheel hub motors, powering front wheels. There is also a fact that both fenders in back and front don’t exactly fit and the vehicle is sporting some really narrow tires. All of these facts lead us to believe that the company is working on the larger saloon car within i-family. No other details have been revealed, but expect to see electric engine providing slightly more power as compared i3.
As per the reports, the company is designing and engineering its i5 midsized multi purpose vehicle as a model, which bridges gap between high end sportscar i8 and compact i3. Details behind i5 have yet to be unveiled, but will feature sliding rear seats, large cargo space and high roof. It will carry electric generator identical to that of i3 while equipped with similar futuristic design language, which plays right into elements of both i8 and i3. The BMW i5 is likely to be launched in the next couple of years, perhaps by 2015.
