It is likely that in the past few days you’ve heard the “Vial electronic address“, known as the DEV. Whenever any information of any new administration arrives, finance or the DGT we are longing to tremble, and is not for less since we think ‘ to see more or how much more we have to pay now”. Seems to be that by this new development we will not have to scratch the Pocket (even more), but we need to know what it is if we don’t want to bring us some other fright.
The Vial electronic address is a channel through which we will receive fines and email notifications, leaving aside the traditional postal mail. For individuals, it is an optional method without providing any but, nevertheless, companies must imperatively be subscribed to the DEV before the end of the year 2016 present. The DEV started in 2010, but was not until mid-2015 when started to operate correctly, restart the registration of empowerment.
Of this way, the notifications and fines come both to the holder of the vehicle as as to the person or company that is designated as proxy of that vehicle. The General Directorate of traffic, according to reports from its magazine, takes a few months sending newsletters to hire companies, meeting also with companies with own fleets, rental of vehicles, etc.
Thus, any company that has any registered vehicle must register in the DEV. Not be given high in this new system, “any legal person can register, transfer or change the owner of a vehicle“, says Javier Villalba, Assistant Director of the DGT regulations in a statement to the magazine DGT. Villalba also declares that “the DEV does not mean no problem for companies, because all already have electronic management relationship“.
It has no charge and the only change is that, to receive fines by email instead of the traditional postal mail. In the case of individuals, it is entirely voluntary, and may subscribe, unsubscribe or modify your data.
