The European new car market seems to go from strength to strength under full sail (except for the lowered of the month last) and all them manufacturers believe that this year will be much better that the last for sales and benefits. However some brands and models, such as Audi with its Q3 or Ford with some products manufactured in Almussafes (Spain) appears which are not fulfilling its objectives.
This is what is happening to Ford in Spain. The American brand has spent several years in which he refuses the European market and achieve the black numbers it is costing more than desired. However, after the restructuring made in its factories European and the relocation of its production all seemed to be going in the right direction. This relocation of production and models affect very positively to Almussafes, however, it seems that models transferred to the Spanish plant must curb its production to a temporary drop in demand.
Initially this stop of the production it is confined to the engine plant that Ford has in Almussafes. To carry out this stop of production the factory management has raised the main unions make a temporary regulation of employment record (ERTE) but still is not specified the number of workers affected by the measure and the duration which will be at the time.
This measure is attached to which already had agreed previously them unions and the address of the factory, that consisted in keep all them posts of work in Exchange for decrease the computer total of hours of work. In addition, Jesús Alonso, Chairman of Ford Spain has ensured that there is still not a final decision on the future of the Almussafes factory template, at the time that reaffirms the performance of direction, since in his words they are contained in the collective agreement agreed with the trade unions.
