Cars powered by hydrogen seems to want to find its niche market. Increasingly more brands are working on this alternative source of energy, but I still need much to make it viable to 100 percent. The only brand that has dared to launch a model on sale with hydrogen fuel cell was Honda with its Clarity Fuel Cell. This sedan is powered by a battery powered by a hydrogen fuel cell that between charges allows circular conductor 500 kilometers.
The Japanese firm is not the only one that works with hydrogen to give life to their cars, while the others, General Motors and Hyundai, not just released to the pool permanently. The South Korean firm has completed the first phase of tests with their Ix35 hydrogen fuel cell-driven and according to the results obtained in a very short time already could bring to market a vehicle with these characteristics.
As reported by the firm within the framework of the CES in Las Vegas, they are working on the design of a new platform to launch a new SUV powered by hydrogen fuel cell on it. This base would be specifically designed to allow a much wider habitability than has the current Ix35 of hydrogen as well as allow you to reduce significantly the total weight of the set since the current prototype weighs about 1,900 pounds. This would provide a greater capacity for hydrogen storage tanks.
The Executive Vice President of Hyundai Motors, Seung Ho Hwang, has given the news at the press conference that was held after the presentation of the autonomous Ioniq. It also confirmed that the first prototype of this new SUV of hydrogen can learn it at the next Geneva Motor Show and that its marketing would be planned for mid of the year 2018. We must be attentive to the news provided by the firm because we could soon have the first images of this new SUV.
