The Jeep Cherokee has changed his style over the years. Formerly a car with off-road look, off-road driving and skills all-terrain, taking on the other hand that was not the best car to circulate around the city, nor by motorways at high speeds.
With the rise of SUV fashion that continues growing at a frantic pace, Jeep changed course of the Cherokee into a crossover. That kind of vehicles that while non-pure cars for the “offroad”, allow certain breaks off the road and, in addition, behave practically as medium in the city and on road cars, leaving in its range as true all-terrain vehicle the well-known Wrangler.
After this brief review of the change of functionality of the Jeep Cherokee, we present a Special Edition mark just presented for this model, the version Overland. Jeep Cherokee Overland was presented for the first time to the public during the last Geneva Motor Show in early March.
The main attraction of the Cherokee Overland is its high equipment and certain cosmetic changes. Aesthetically it seems to put aside the “jacket” image with new side skirts on its four sides painted in the body color, wheel in the same color, 18 inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights and Overland registration at the gate of the boot steps. Nevertheless, it maintains a robust appearance.
In its Interior include Nappa leather sports seats with the logo of the edition which are ventilated and heated, in addition to electrical adjustments which incorporates the lumbar support steering wheel with wood inserts and interior trim in anodized finish.
El Jeep Cherokee Overland joins the engine diesel 2.2 MultiJet II 200 horsepower and 440 Nm and automatic change of 9 relations All this must be added a Premium Alpine sound system and the system of connectivity of the Volkswagen brand with 8.4 inch screen and GPS Navigator. Series are also the panoramic sunroof, the gate of the Assistant, electric boot for parking and some active safety systems such as blind control, notice of involuntary departure of lane, adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning.
Only sold with traction 4 × 4 but, depending on the use that we will give this SUV, we can choose between the Active Drive I or Active Drive IIsystem. Both only send torque to the rear axle where the adhesion conditions so require it and have a selector of management of drive depending on the area in which we find ourselves (auto, sport, snow and sand/mud). The difference between the Drive I and II Drive is that the latter, in addition to all the above adds gearbox, control of descents and differential (4WD Lock) lock function.
This version Jeep Cherokee Overland will be available later this month at dealerships, for a price of 54,400 euros for versions with Active Drive I and 2,000 euros more for the Drive II. The brand offers promotions and discounts by funding to reduce the price to the 43,500 euros in the case of the Drive I and 45.200 euro for the Drive II.
