The first time that we hear talk of a plug-in hybrid at the mark of Sant’Agata was with the Lamborghini Asterion. Is was of a prototype presented at the Salon of Paris 2014 and that combined the engine V10 atmospheric of 5.2 litres of the hurricane with three Motors electric. It seems that this project was in the air, but not this type of technology. All indications are that Lamborghini Urus will be the first plug-in hybrid of the brand.
Maurizio Reggiani, responsible of r & d of the brand, has confirmed recently that are working on this. Urus is doing to pray, but it will be a milestone for Lamborghini. The first SUV for the brand, the first plug-in hybrid and could also be the first turbocharged engine. Apparently the more logical choice would be the use of a engine V8 biturbo 4.0 liters to generate the torque required to move the SUV.
While getting a greater torque would be easier in a diesel engine, that is something that was ruled long by the own Stefano Domenicali. In all case the Lamborghini Urus still in phase of development and “will be much better for inside and by outside” that the prototype presented in 2012. It seems that the design will be updated and that its weight and aerodynamics will be two key aspects in this model.
Seems that the mark of Sant’ agate is completed by paying to the current trends and abandoning its essence a little. Although it is expected that the other models do not have hybrid variants and remain as usual with its atmospheric engines. The Lamborghini Urus is expected that reaches during the year 2018, but still not is clear if it version hybrid plug-in will arrive in your launch or more forward.
