The strategy of electrification of the Volkswagen Group is on a roll at full sail. The German consortium continues to work to make the commercial launch of its future autonomous and electric cars sooner that later. At this point we know that Volkswagen and Seat are equipped with electric models in their ranges, but that is missing (and Audi) have it is the Czech Skoda.
The Czech signature is product catalog which features shorter than all the Consortium (with the exception of Lamborghini, Porsche and Rolls Royce), but that is changing with the launch of the Kodiaq. However, Bernhard Maier, CEO of Skoda has made several statements in the heat of the Geneva Auto Show that the bulb has us on.
According to Maier Czech manufacturer will be able to present that will be its first electric model in the next Room of the Shanghai automobile. According to the CEO of Skoda “in Shanghai will show a surprise.” There will be a vision of what will be the electric mobility in Skoda”. He has not explained what type of car will be or the segment which will be the first car powered by batteries of the firm.
Maier has not specified if it will be an electric model based on an existing one or one of new conception to 100 percent. However, Maier if he has made it clear that “we will go first with a plug-in hybrid in 2019 and the first all-electric vehicle specially built to come later, is currently planned to reach the market in the year 2020″.
If we take into account technology in electric vehicles having the Group Volkswagen, Skoda could bring us to the market alternatives. The first and most simple would be a micro urban based on the e-Up! and sisters e-Mii that already made their marks. The second could come of the hand of an all road, because the new platform MEB would be perfect for it, and in the Consortium already have with some that another example. Finally, we could be talking about a traditional sedan. In this field the firm is a specialist and could be a model that fits perfectly in your range.
We will have to wait for the Asian event to see this concept and if we are or not in the truth.
