The electrification of the automobile sector is already a fact. Today all brands want to have a car that is driven by this type of energy and longer no matter the segment he concerned. He started the Renault-Nissan alliance with cars cutting affordable (if you can call it that), Tesla Motors followed by the top and Jaguar surprises now with the first electric SUV.
Because the electric party also want to sign up the South Korean company SsangYong. So, according to Paul Williams, head of SsangYong in United Kingdom firm it will launch different power variants of models that currently has in its portfolio. The term that have been marked places these electric SUV in the horizon of the year 2020.
The British head of the firm said that SsangYong Tivoli driven by batteries currently being tested. To create signature would have the support of a major supplier of batteries. In addition, its parent company Mahindra & Mahindra is making a high investor effort so its best-known brand can benefit from the advances in this field.
SsangYong currently in its planning of releases three new models for the next three years and all could be accompanied with electrical variations. The first we could see would be the production version of the SIV-2, is the rival of the brand for the Nissan Qashqai, driven by electricity. This model should be on the street in the year 2019 coinciding with the launch of the replacement of the current Korando.
The strategy for the future that the manufacturer will continue to follow the path of the hybridization and electrification of its range. In it they have located hybrids in the first position and the electrical in second place. However both products could reach the street on similar dates if Mahindra & Mahindra continues to advance its research and collaborations with other brands in terms of electricity and hybridization.
We are looking forward to seeing how SsangYong becomes a reference in terms of mobility and SUV.
