The Opel Astra OPC will come in 2017 and possibly be a 1.6 Turbo

Hear the initials OPC immediately transports us to the more performance versions of Opel. Power and fun is what offer us, especially the Opel Corsa OPC and Opel Astra OPC. The Insignia OPC will be a saloon’s wheel drive capable of carrying us at very high rates, but at the end and at the end is a very heavy sedan, so it loses a point of sportsmanship.

Opel Astra K has been more than one year in our market, so it shouldn’t take much more the arrival of their corresponding OPC version. According to are running our companions of Motor1, the Opel Astra OPC is present in 2017, expected during the Salon of the automobile of Frankfurt. So far, the OPC versions of the compact German had 3-door body, although it seems that this new generation there will be such a being, therefore, only 5-doorbody.

What is a mystery is to know what will be the propeller that will mount the new Opel Astra OPC. Apparently Opel would have problems in installing a motor of “large” dimensions in the vain engine by reasons of space. In addition, brand stated some time ago its intention to fit only engines which do not exceed 1,600 cc in this model, although we do not know if this variant may make exceptions. In fact, the current most powerful variant is a 1.6 Turbo 200 hp.

The Opel Astra OPC that still is marketed belongs to the generation previous, equipping a powerful 2 litres Turbo that reaches them 280 CV and 400 Nm. It is more than likely that brand use a 1.6 Turbo over powered, although it shall not exceed the amount of power compared to the current model by far. However, itself will be more fast by the remarkable loss of weight of a generation to another that, according to versions, is located between 120 and 200 pounds.
