Mexico is one of the countries that many people should discover. Its people, culture and contrasts are a wonder of humanity. In addition to all this, the car brands also know that they are a market that is expanding and so many want to settle to convince Mexican customers that their products are the best.
The French Peugeot (Citroën not sold there) takes several years selling their cars in the country Aztec, however the success seems to have not accompanied them much. When I was in the country, several times I was interested in its range and pricing, and when I was aware of both, I account where the failure might be.
Mexico is very close to the United States (maybe more than what now would like) and their tastes of purchase are very influenced by this country. The range of models of Peugeot in Mexico was based only on models of cutting urban, compact and sedans half. However, the client type from there looking rather large, with powerful engines and a refined price cars for all of these conditions.
Obviously as the models were the size that they seek and the price is higher than you want to pay, because the sales are low. However, in the dome directive of the Group PSA have decided that will attack the market Mexican with its new models SUV and the first that have sent is the new 3008.
The Panamericano carguys, have published a few spy photos (provided by a reader) of the Peugeot 3008 while engineers made several test validation. The photographed unit had a mechanical diesel and that was the reason that betrayed him in the eyes of the reader. The reason is that in this country not prevail them vehicles moved by diesel and to the be a model novel and refuel this type of fuel did that is discovered.
That this model comes to Mexico may be the prelude of something greater. The group PSA just of buy Opel and them French need as water of mayo open markets there in which not are present. In addition, now that the 5008 SUV will also hit the market, would have two models of size medium with which to convince Mexican customers demanding.
Do not consider us this strategy to launch the SUV of Peugeot in Mexico descabellad, because that would allow them the opportunity to launch new models in the face of the future. What we don’t block at all however is that they decide to do with mechanical diesel after what happened with Volkswagen and that Mexico is a country prone to this type of fuel.
It remains to be seen what happens when Peugeot decides to launch it permanently in the Aztec country.
