Electrification of the Volkswagen Group strategy seems to be that it will not only affect its range of cars. Is true that already have presented conceptual how could be future electrical group vans (passenger only). But still we do not know, definitively, that will be its first commercial vehicle of power failure. The German conglomerate is going to bet very strong by this technology and taking advantage of that the rest of the Group’s brands is introducing new cars of this type of industrial vehicles division doesn’t want to stay behind.
The idea of having a pure commercial vehicle driven by batteries is not new within the group. This was advanced in the past IAA commercial vehicles held in Hanover in September of last year. In this event the managers of the Volkswagen Group already advanced this idea with the e-Crafter. However it was not until now that we have some more data about this peculiar vehicle work.
Focusing us in them main data technical, it Volkswagen e -Transporter (its name still not is definitive but not will be e -Crafter as is thought) would be driven by a motor completely electric with ones 100 kW of power, or what is it same ones 135 cv of them of all the life. The torque developed this engine is 290 Nm and as maximum speed can reach about 80 km / h (speed is limited).
If we are guided by the previous prototype, the e-Crafter, autonomy between refills of the vehicle may vary between 200 and 400 kilometers. In addition, the process to recharge the batteries might be improved so you could load up to 80 percent in just thirty minutes. Thus the work of labour with this vehicle become much more interesting because it would allow their drivers do not lose much time in work on the battery charge.
Finally it should be mentioned that according to Dr. Eckhard Scholz, President of the Council of direction of Volkswagen vehicles commercial, the first units of this vehicle should be on the street by the end of this year. Meanwhile it is expected.
