The Audi R8 of first generation came to market almost a decade ago. The concept was that of a supercar at the height of brands with lots of history in the segment as a Ferrari or Lamborghini, which shared much of the engineering. I had nothing to envy them or in terms of chassis or in terms of mechanics, being available with a V10 version and another “access” V8, both air intake.
Relatively recently reached the second generation of the supercar German, presenting with a V10 Engine again placed in central position, just behind the seats, and overfeeding. In the V10 Plus, 610 HP version rugen and transmitted to the asphalt in the most effective way possible with the quattro drive system.
It seemed that Audi would launch within shortly a more mild version, as it did in the first generation, using a propeller V8 atmospheric. However, them regulatory anti-pollution and the recent development of an engine V6 biturbo between Porsche and Audi (used in the new Porsche Panamera), besides it filtration on the future offensive of products of the brand of principles of year, us makes think that can that that variant V8 never reaches and yes it make a version more efficient: an Audi R8 V6.
Is understandable that this news does not like to them more purist lovers of the Supercars, and is logical. But we have to understand the situation of the brand, and that they would gain more performance to the development of the new V6 biturbo I and, probably, it would sell more than the V8. Equal in Europe would keep them figures of the V8 (or would fall slightly), but in countries and markets where the standards anti-pollution are much more harsh, could market this vehicle more easily.
On the other hand, it is not sure if using a V6 with supercharging, is 2.9 V6 mounted the Porsche Panamera. And is that remember that the Audi S4 also uses a V6 supercharged, although in this case the cylinder capacity is of 3 litres with another configuration internal.
Whatever, everything indicates that the V8 in the Audi R8 supercar is about to die, while than a V6 will be shown shortly.
