Germany ask Tesla to withdraw the name Autopilot by misleading term

Tesla Autopilot 8.0

It seems that to Germany not convinced him that Elon Musk company make propaganda of its attendees and supports driving Tesla called “Autopilot”. Hire company calls it Autopilot and, according to Germany, this can lead to drivers to use it as an autopilot, leaving to the road the attention it requires, or to purchase your vehicle waiting for one thing that is not really.

The Federal Office of motor vehicles (known as KBA in Germany by its acronym) Tesla claims that it is a misleading term, since it really is just an Assistant to driving. The KBA wrote to Tesla arguing it following: “to avoid misunderstandings and false expectations of them customers, claim that stop of use the misleading term of pilot automatic to promote the system”.

Apparently, the thing was not there. The KBA sent a letter to the owners vehicles Tesla warning that that the system is potentially misleading.

Tesla has responded to Germany, but the truth is that it has not said anything clear, taking the matter to his land. The statements of the KBA brand have been that the Autopilot has been designed to reduce the workload of the driver and, if used correctly, provides an extra safety compared with fully manual control.

Germany and the Federal Office of motor vehicles are right somehow. Tesla called Autopilot to a system that does not is a pilot automatic. However, we assume (and hope) that Tesla does not sell their vehicles to customers telling them that their car drives only, that is completely autonomous and can take a NAP or read the newspaper with total peace of mind while tourism leads them from point A to point B, you have selected on the route.
